Staman Acres Civic Association (SACA)  / Fall  Meeting Minutes / September 28, 2023 

Held at the City of Farmington Hills Firehouse #5 and called to order by Kurt Vaaler at 7:00 PM.  
PLEASE NOTE:  At the time of the meeting the SACA website is down and not available. Vice-President Maria Guido & Treasurer Kathie Brown are working on returning its function. Our Domain Name was lost when Weebly, our website host, was acquired by Square.  We’re trying to reactivate https://www.staman-acres.org
 
Secretary Report 
  • Dean Wojtowitz has resigned as SACA Secretary.  We thank him for his many years of service. 
  • The previous meeting minutes (March 30 & August 20 Special Meeting) were read by attendees. There were no corrections and the minutes were approved. 
  • One new resident on Rocky Crest.
  • Happy Birthday to Stan Wilkins who is turning 100 years old.
  • A SACA Financial Statement April 1, 2023 – September 28, 2023 was presented. A Proposed SACA Budget for 2024-2025 was also presented and reviewed by attendees. Copies of both will be distributed in the next mailing and are available by contacting Kathie Brown, Treasurer.
  • Entrance on Orchard Lake Beautification:  Approval via response letter by a vote of 62% of dues paying members, 45 Yes / 10 No.
  • SACA bylaws passed at special meeting by 59% of dues paying members, 43 Yes / 10 No. 
  • SACA Restrictions have not been changed but will be considered at a later date. 
  • Garbage / Refuse cans should not be visible from street after the day of refuse pickup (bylaws state they should be kept in the garage).
  • Possibility of a pavilion in common area has been removed from the agenda for the time being. 
  • Traffic Study on Rocky Crest has been taken off the agenda, due to lack of volunteers.  Can be revisited if needed.  
  • Discoloration of sign at Powers & Rocky Crest:  Sign company is out of business.  Does anyone know how to fix or a company to contact?  Solution to clean and touch up the black print? Sealant? Please contact Kurt Vaaler, President. Currently researching solutions.
  • Road extending Fairmount north of Rocky Crest: City does not have any new information.  The city does not have any official plan from land owners.
  • Survey of the berm property at Orchard Lake and Rocky Crest, on the south side of Rocky Crest, has been completed. 
 
Entrance Beautification Phases:
  1. Clean Up rocks on berm - FREE to anyone who would like to get them
  2. Obtain right to use property west of stakes from homeowner & east of stakes from Oakland County
  3. Request quotes for a new water meter or to connect to existing irrigation system
  4. Water & Irrigation Installation
  5. Landscaping Design, Planting & Maintenance
 
New Business
  • Spring Yard Sale to be discussed at March 2024 SACA meeting.
  • If you see any violations of the city codes, contact Farmington Hills Zoning and Code Enforcement at 248-871-2520 to report the violations.
  • Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Architectural Committee, of the Beautification Committee or possibly becoming the SACA Secretary, please contact a current officer.

  • Drive safely - The speed limit is 25 mph on all Staman Acres Roads.
